Restrictor
Hinge
The Restrictor Hinge has a unique patented mechanism that restricts
the initial window opening to 100mm in compliance with BS 8213,
Part 1: 1990 'Code of Practice for Safety in Use and in Cleaning'.
Designed to be unobtrusive, the opening catch is less tempting to
children. The mechanism requires a certain level of strength and
dexterity to operate and two hands are required to coordinate opening,
giving added protection.
An automatic reset facility ensures safe operation at all times.
Side hung windows can be 'locked' open, making cleaning safer and
preventing the window from being blown shut. The entire restrictor
mechanism is integral to the hinge, eliminating the need for a separate
restrictor.
Windows incorporating the Restrictor Hinge have been tested and
meet the requirements of BS 6375, Part 2: 1987, Clause A7 Test 6,
'Strength of Restricted Opening, Location Devices and Maximum Opening
Stops'.
The Hinge is also approved by the British Board of Agrement, Endurance
Assessment, BBA Report No. 1039.
Wear-Resistant Action
Manufactured from hard-wearing stainless steel, the Restrictor Hinge
offers excellent load bearing characteristics. The Restrictor Hinge
is designed and manufactured for accuracy and precision in action.
The friction slide is made from high strength glass-filled nylon
and fitted with an adjustable brass resistance screw.
The Hinge has a durable, smooth action which is aided by a waterproof
lubricant added to each pivot point during manufacture and, for
side-hung windows, a rivetted-on riser block makes closing much
easier.
